Merry Halloweeniemas Time!

Those two holidays are getting too close together, or maybe I'm just getting senile. I tried making the most annoying, girly Halloween cartoon I could, but was busy with a bunch of dumb crap. I got back to it this week. Here it is. I uploaded it to Vimeo, which is 1000000x better quality than pooptube. No dropped frames and blurry bgs, and you can download the quicktime file there for your own portable devices.

Love Shine from Brianne Drouhard on Vimeo.
Song Info (it's on Itunes):
Love Shine (Body Grooverz 2006 Mix)
artist: W.W.S.
album: Dance Dance Revolution - Hottest Party (c) Konami
Crappy Youtube version.

Horrible random facts:
Flash with wacom tablet. Like drawing with a giant melted crayon, on a cookie sheet, with my feet.
Two full weeks of work, off and on.
Hallucinated my tea cup was wiggly from lack of sleep.
The version on my computer actually has easy to read backgrounds.
The story still doesn't make any sense though, or fix timing and 180 problems.
Poor computer is old and I'm amazed it was able to handle this, barely.
My flight home for Xmas has been cancelled three times the last 24 hours.
I was able to finish editing because that happened.
My stomach hurts.
I'm being to negative.
But I had sushi with Clio! HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAA!!!!
MERRY HOLIDAY SUPER WEEK EVERYBODY!!!

(Konami please don't sue me!)

"The Dancing Cats of Applesap"

This is for the "Once Upon a Time" show at Alpha Cult this weekend.
Here is the info:
Opens Saturday, Dec. 13, 7pm - 11pm
Runs through Dec. 13 - Jan. 7
Alpha Cult
408 East First St. Suite #102
Long Beach, CA 90802

The piece I submitted is inspired from a book I read when I was little called
"The Dancing Cats of Applesap". It's about a shy small town, a shy girl, old shy grumpy drugstore clerks, and some shy cats who live at a drugstore. There is also much ice cream sundae eating and dingy comic books! Then a big conglomerate drugstore moves in! Who will win? UH OHHHH!!! (I'm really sleepy and cannot write a decent synopsis.)

Some random pieces of arwork are going to be auctioned off at Nucleus this weekend. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross, to help the victims of the recent California fires.
The pieces that I have that should be available are, "The Child Like Empress" and "Yuki Onna VS the Ninjas"
Ok, have to get back to work.

Pet Lemon

Thanksgiving weekend was good. I got to go to Disneyland with some nice people (it wasn't quite the zoo everyone told me it would be that day, but it's probably an off year.) I also went to some popular ramen place with friends, looked at toys, read comic books, and actually drew for myself for once! yay.

Here is a reciept from a fairly recent get together with friends. I ordered the Lemon Mousse. It came up as pet lemon on the reciept.

All I want for Xmas.....is less lemons.

Meeces Pieces

"USA Cartoon Express", anybody remember that block from the 80's-90's? I used to think Pixie had some sort of obsession with Mr. Jinks, since they both wore the same blue bowtie.

My grandma Lilly passed away this weekend. She used to let me draw on big sheets of butcher paper. She just turned 89. Bye grandma.

Kitty Aftermath

The anime expo was very small, but I had a fun time meeting the people who came out. Everyone was super nice! Alot of siblings came by. The two images above were for a couple of sisters who bought some prints from me Saturday. I was doing 4x6 inch commisions in little frames. They both wanted kitties, so I told them if they came back Sunday they'd be ready. I never saw them again, so here they are. Yes, the one on top was intentionally colored like Mr. Jinx. I should try drawing Pixie and Dixie soon.
Thanks to Claire and Jeff for keeping me company for a bit Saturday, and Val and Roger for hanging out with me Sunday. They helped me take all the framed artwork and portfolios to the car.
We went to Red Lobster for Dinner. Now I am meeting friends for pie. I am a pig.

Montecito Anime Art Expo

I got invited to have a table/booth thing at the first "Montecito Anime Art Expo".
Here is the place and time:
Montecito Fine Arts Arcadia Children Center - 524 S.1st Ave Arcadia, CA 91006
1pm to 9pm on both Saturday November 8th & Sunday November 9th

Since this happened so quickly, I probably won't be selling anything, but I'm supposed to bring original art to hang and my current portfolio. I'll see if I can get some sort of freebies made, and maybe I'll have some post its on hand to sketch too. I know there will be other artists there, don't know who yet, so if you have nothing to do this weekend, stop by. My social skills are pretty poor, so this should be interesting. Don't be suprised when you find out I'm actually an ugly monster. 'Cause I am.

Today my name was "BREAM". I got "Bean" once. It was awesome.

Here is a horrible drawing that is old, because I have nothing to post that isn't related to legal things. They could take my kidneys. That would suck.

I gave myself a deadline this week. I didn't make it. So there is this instead.
Have a safe Halloween.
I love Guinea dinosaur.

Tricky Treat!

Friday will be Halloween! Yippee!

Here is Skippy's costume. He likes to wear it and finds it very comfortable.

He's supposed to be a cowboy. He likes to wear the hat hanging back, because it bugs his ears otherwise.

I cleaned up my balcony garden last weekend. It is still pretty hot in LA. Looking forward to sweaters and hot cocoa soon!!

Come back this Friday. There may or may not be another Halloween Trick or Treat, depending on asthma and overall business doing stuff for other people. I'll do my darndest to finish on time though. It will be full of crack.

Corny Cole

1997, the insanely talented Corny Cole. The young lass in the bottom photo is the sweet talented miss Destiny Wood.

Alot of people know Corny, and many know of his situation at the moment. He has been an inspiration to many, a helpful mentor, and friend. I've known him since 1996. He was my first figure drawing teacher and I took some of his fantastic painting classes. He's always been very supportive and would often bring artwork from various periods of his life to class. Sometimes it would be old books of his favorite illustrators, a beautiful painting, a relief made in sculpy, layouts from "Little Nemo", the epic animation he made for "Heavy Metal". Alot of these were lost in the fires last week, along with his pets.
I know this info can be found in many places already, but just a reminder if anyone would like to help Corny out during this rough time, here are some places to donate and contact:
Creative Talent Network Paypal Corny Cole donation account

Also you can snail mail:
Checks payable to Corny Cole
California Institute of the Arts
ATT: Trish Patryla, Office of the Provost
24700 McBean Parkway
Valencia, CA 91355

There also maybe an auction fundraiser, but I'm not sure who is in charge of it or running it. If anyone knows, please contact me. I'd like to contribute.

Komodo dragon has a wonderful birthday party!

Real news that isn't important! Sorry if this offends anyone, but a lizard has to eat.

via www.metro.co.uk
"Komodo Dragon celebrates its birthday
Wednesday, October 1, 2008
A Komodo Dragon celebrates his eighth birthday with what looks like the world's most horrible birthday cake - a meat feast topped with mice!"
Note: The Komodo dragon's name is "Krakatoa". Awesome.
My Mom sent this to me, wanting me to draw this amazing photograph. Personally, I think no artwork can compare to the real thing. Plus I've got stuff for other people that has to get done tonight, yeah, you Fayetteville. I totally owe you.
I'm also behind on bday drawings for some friends. :C None of them are for Krakatoa though, he is not my friend.

Here is something I drew awhile ago when I was sad. It's been a hard year for me art/working wise, but this month is looking very up. 2008 still has hope. I might be actually animating some freelance soon. 2D. Not feature, but still something that will be alot of fun to work on! Then I can afford my own meat/flattened mouse cake! YUM!
When times are tough, have to stick it out. There is still alot of good to look forward to.
Also, I am making gingerbread cookies tonight. Using dough that is sold at Ikea. Hmmmm.....

Cheer Squad

Pumpkin bread is fuel of the gods! Thanks to everyone who has been supportive the last couple of years and kept me going. I'm looking forward to this week. Now to do some laundry!

Extra stupid photo!

Last weekend I was over at a friend's apartment working on stuff. We were talking to our friend in Japan on Skype, and wanted to show him a video. His head is on the Mac work book, and we placed him in front of the cintiq to watch it. Youtube? Who needs it.

War and Monsters

One more week of no life and then maybe I won't post old stuff. This lovely monster up above is a rare specimen. It is because she is wearing a cowboy hat AND Ugg boots. I haven't seen any of these creatures roaming about LA for awhile. If you see one, be aware of how fragile their existence is. That chihuahua isn't a pet. It's a snack.

The following is a short film some of my friends made a few years ago.
It was directed and created by Dwight Hwang. Who is crazy.
The crew who helped put it together are: Mike Koizumi, Joe Chang, Ben Dai, Sze, Wattana Khommarath, Dave Lee, Keita Matsumoto, Shinnichi Yokota, Kyouji Asano, Nelson Wang, Bruno Velazquez, Kyung Hee Shon, John Lanz, John Aoshima, Jon Spence, Oliver Espiridion, Yumi Hasegawa, narration by Ralph Voltrian, and music by Glenn Scott Lacey

Some of these guys also did the voices, including Zaza Mustazar, who is uncredited. Because of this, the film sounds exactly like the Nerf wars back in the day, even with the weird made up cute voices.

Here is the film, leave a comment on it's youtube page if you like it.

Here are some extra special videos:
Stanford Laser Technology
Do not watch if you are about to go to sleep or have a fear of Ronald McDonald. Ron Ron Ru, indeed.
Have you seen Spock's Brain?

Armor that doesn't make sense.

I'm going to be M.I.A next week again. Got some happy freelance recently, and I'm trying to learn how to storyboard (that isn't freelance). I think I got up to around panel 400 today.
In the meantime, here is a new image of Alabaster for some reason. Her armor makes no sense. Why is her belly exposed? Doesn't seem very smart, and for someone so stupid, why is her armor represented by an owl? That breast plate probably pokes her stomach every time she bends over.

On the subject of armor that makes no sense what so ever...
Here is some old stuff (some is sorta new) that I doodled while on "OOJH" and "3000".
I like drawing stupid, but it doesn't pay the billz.
"These guy are sick."

All these drawings have a horrible disease, called "Dissidia".
You may suffer from "Dissidia" if you display the following symptoms:
Chronic Amnesia, sharp pointy hair, attraction to buckles, belts, and zippers, depression, being randomly attacked by small animals, prone to setting yourself or others on fire, dependence on crystal substances, being ridiculously powerful for no good reason, bad English voice acting, and inability to have a coherent plot.
If you display any of these symptoms, buy Brianne a PSP, unless she wins the lottery and buys one herself. Preferably mint green version, and then it will sit with the DS collecting dust because she has no time to play video games. :(

Here are some photos of armor that really work in real life!
My Dad found a turtle trying to cross a road in a dangerous place. So he brought it home, but then took him to a nice sheltered area to live out the rest of his turtley days in peace. Dunno what type of turtle he is. He is pretty though. Pretty turtle.

Toonces wants to be buddies.

My parents recently had their 30th wedding anniversary. I was a bad daughter and was unable to make them anything cool.

@ - @

Crappy wacom doodles while talking on the phone. Only thing that can be posted that won't get me into trouble. Working on stuff that has a slight chance to see the sun. Poop. I miss the cintiq, it's easier to draw with and not as clunky.

I'm not dead. Just busy and watching dvds.

Nothing to show here but us chickens.

Ummmm....been really busy. On stuff. Or something. I got interviewed though, by Mr. Jason Anders. Since he was nice enough to take the time, you can read my rambling nonsensical answers HERE. He's interviewed alot of other artists, and they are all a good read. They show a good example of the variety of artists working in fine art and animation today.

Here is a photo my friend Vyv took one night while visiting. I hate photos of myself, but she is pretty handy with the camera.

Here is a drawing I did on my friend Val's Cintiq, right after her kitchen cupboard attacked her. Luckily her fiance` comforted her. In-n-Out 'cause the colors looked like mustard and catsup, but she said it looks like the Flash. Whatever. Google is great for finding logos.

Sorry there are no chickens in this post. Or naked farm girls. You people are sick!! Stop abusing search engines!! Your punishment is squeaky river otters!

The Go! Team

Been really grumpy lately, but Mr.Battle sent me a video so now I am better. Here is what he sent!

Yay! It's The Go! Team
I got to see them in concert at the Echoplex in LA last October. They are REALLY GOOD live! I like how the little fruit and tree people evolve from pixel to faux cut out paper. They are like Pokemon. Or something. This video apparantly has something to do with Cartoon Network, but I am too tired to investigate.

Not good with caricatures. poop. Apologies to any musicians, never drawn guitars and drums before.

Stuart and Amy Ng have a blog. See the wonders of running your own online bookstore!

Slush Puppie 4 U!

Today 25 years ago, I was no longer an only child. I had to learn how to share my toys, watch as my Strawberry Shortcake pop-up book was destroyed, get kicked in the teeth by little cowboy boots, throw dirt clods, and kill the other dinosaur in "Bubble Bobble" with lighting. Wuv u baby bro.

Slush Puppie for you, since Sea Fair apparantly has you holed up in your apartment.
Read about Slush Puppie.

Look at Slush Puppie. He used to be really cute, the one on wikipedia looks weird. I guess cute doesn't sell anymore. :(
"Slush Puppie" is the official drink of tractor drivers. Now being sold at "Bob's Korner", in Othello, WA.

Green Goldfish Paint

Survived San Diego. Was spaced out most of the time, didn't run into anybody I see regularly, but ran into a couple of people from other parts of the country. Tried meeting people at their booths, but most were either not there or the crowd was too insane. Lots of phone tag. Went to a crazy sushi place that kept giving us a ton of food and shots. I didn't take many photos, camera was acting funky, but the business card for the restuarant is with my camera, which I left at my friend's house. I'll put that stuff up later.

Group Art show stuff:
Fruits Go Go
August 2nd, 4-8pm
Monkey House Toys
Silverlake, CA

This will be on sale. I tried to draw something taller than four heads. Now I am sleepy.

Back to work.

**Where shall I be Friday?**

At Comic Con San Diego. Inbetween "Armpit Aisle" and "Man with Overly Stimulated Sweat Gland Lane". Yeah, see if you can find me. I'll be selling nothing! I could easily be any of these people below.

I don't even know if I'm staying the night Friday, I am going to a bbq that night somewhere other than con.
Here is something I love. Seen at Drawn.ca, if you haven't seen it before then you should see it NOW!!

It was animated by a Mr. Alex Butera.

I barely survived last week, but it might have been worth it. Haven't been able to sleep much the last few days, but in other news:

I'm also going to be in a gallery show August 2nd at Monkey House Toys in Silverlake. Post more on that later. Brains are mush right now.
****7/23/08 5:11am*** I've decided I REALLY HATE GOOGLE READER. Those who know what I'm talking about, feel free to contact me. If anyone knows a solution other than me being a dumbass please let me know. Ughh, what a nightmare. ***

Banana banana

Banana cat is stressed out for some reason.

I was up late tonight helping a friend with her awesome project. I drew the banana cats for the last thing tonight. I think I know where they live and what they do now, it's probably near something magical.
I might be going down to Comic Con next week, but I am not selling anything new or going to be at anything specific this year. Anyone who has emailed me in the past few weeks, I should be able to respond tomorrow night, sorry about that.

Last week was my bday, and I got really really spoiled! There was much hanging out with friends and hijinks, lunch with babies, and lots of awesome presents! Yay!! Spoiled!!
Below is a cake my friend Claire made me. It was red velvet, and made from scratch including the frosting! It was delicious!!

Thanks again everybody, everything I've recieved I'll put to good use! Thanks Abby for the strange creature I got in the mail!!
P.S. I'm embarrassing myself this friday. RAD!

I went to Anime Expo...

...and there was a Cosplay Life drawing session my friends dragged me too. I was exhausted, but it ended up being alot of fun. I saw an old CSSSA friend there, and another classmate I hadn't seen in five years.
I wasn't planning on drawing at the con, and didn't bring the supplies I'm used to. These are all drawn in a tiny crappy sketchbook. Most of these guys held the poses better than the naked models I had drawn from years ago. Mad props to you crazy cosplayers, all that sewing must strengthen your stamina.

"Dude, your princess in another castle."

Naruto's colors are switched. And he is drawn poopy. The girl dressed as Hsien-ko is an old CSSSA roommate!

Polka Vocaloid?

"Do you liek autobots?"

Afterward we went to Mimi's Cafe for dinnar. We bought four "Gurren Lagann" suprise toy boxes, but ended up with three of the same toy! :( How does that happen? While I was putting mine together, the little boy from the table next to us started playing waiter. This pretty much summed up our conversation. He really liked the robots.
For more crazy Anime Expo figure drawing, go here.

P.S. It's true, Anime Expo weakens the immune system.
